I've been hiding Franco DVDs around the house, telling friends I'm watching 'proper' films when I'm actually just watching 'Mansion of the Living Dead' again... there is no hope for me now.Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14951955227326548340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3369610344911858466.post-76715033626057158522012-08-21T23:34:58.774+01:002012-08-21T23:34:58.774+01:00Great piece, very funny. You've caught the Franco virus, and bad - it's in there right now, coursing through your veins, making you write things you thought you'd never ever say. I know the feeling very well. I'm just finishing a book on the guy. Welcome to Castle Franco - you'll never leave!
Steve
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3369610344911858466.post-48609598873929037952011-10-19T16:22:25.713+01:002011-10-19T16:22:25.713+01:00Ha - 'Virgin Among the Living Dead' is act...Ha - 'Virgin Among the Living Dead' is actually one of my favourites! Brilliantly weird, heavily atmospheric film with some hilarious moments... but maybe that just goes to show how thoroughly saturated I am with this stuff.

Maybe soon I'll be stumbling out of 'normal' films halfway through, muttering "..but it's all going so fast... where are all the naked people..?"Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14951955227326548340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3369610344911858466.post-92225597559521547432011-10-15T05:20:21.032+01:002011-10-15T05:20:21.032+01:00You have not convinced me. You hit it on the nose - the Franco ouevre seems to be all of a piece, and real enjoyment and appreciation can only be gained by seeing more and more. Only then can you begin to tease out themes, obsessions, camera techniques and even auteur-ist stylings.

There are no individual films, only chapters in one long film. It's closer to jazz than to filmmaking.

Cheers, RRogerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03422504922725630957noreply@blogger.com
